Located on a volcanic plateau on the Central North Island of New Zealand, Rotorua is one of the world's most spectacular geothermal wonderlands. Geothermal activity (from the Greek geo meaning earth and therme meaning heat) bursts from geysers throughout the area, and bubbles from cauldron-like mud pools.

Thermal mud from Roturua area is particularly rich in minerals because of the constant contact that the mud has with volcanic gases and minerals from deep within the Earth.

Rotorua thermal mud on drying will generate heat, increasing blood circulation and perspiration, helping toxins and other waste to be eliminated. The clay surface is highly active and will easily absorb excess oil from within the skin's pores
